Christ the King School Reviews

Christ the King School in Yonkers, is a great school. The teachers and staff are wonderful. They have afterschool program, many sports activities and a wonderful Religious Ed program as well. CTK also now has spanish offered for all classed 1st - 8th grade. i really give this school 5 stars

this school is the worst i went there for 13 years besides having an all-star basketball team which only the same starting 5 played and no one else was ever subbed in the teachers were sub-par and in 8th grade i had 4 different homeroom teachers because they all quit within a week of working there.

This school is not a showcase school which means teachers have to work harder to meet the needs and NY standards to all students. This is the millenium- not the seventies or eighties! Yonkers does have wonderful teachers and administrators who are NYS certified in multiple areas, and are willing to work with all students. It's not the resources that YPS have in the classrooms, its what stands in front and center to those children everyday. Dedication from staff members, loyalty to parents and commitment to the mind of the child is what is important. I am giving Yonkers a try and their new athletic program that will start very soon in most K-8 schools.

I agree with the comments regarding the sports program. My child is actually sports inclined but I feel for those who aren't because there is such a big emphasis on 'winning', but I don't know that anyone cares about 'how the game is played' and I mean that in general, not just with regard to sports. As far as a community feeling, you have that only if you want to cater to parents inside the 'cliques'. Quite frankly, I think a lot of parents are in between a rock and a hard place- you want to provide your child with a Catholic education- or just escape Yonkers public school system, so you have limited choices; but that is not to say that Christ The King shines. Unfortunately, it doesn't. Sincerely, Parent.

My child has been in this school for ten years. We were promised computer, art, language etc. Each year there were one or two subjects not taken b/c of the lack of teachers. There are a lot of sports in this school. But if you want sports..join a youth club. 2006 there is a new principle, she seems to be lovely. Class size is large, school is small.

I am highly disappointed in CTK. I have a son and he is not sports inclined. I find CTK very much into sports. My child is not in sports and the rest of the children have disassociated him from the rest of the class. Academics are also not what I expected. The classes are alittle behind than the other area schools.

CTK is the best school in Yonkers. My son has done very well in school and his grade have never been better. The sports program is one of the best. The teachers and the staff are wonderful. The other parents are like no others. They are so involved it is a pleasure to be a part of this school. I would recommend this school to others

My son is attending CTK, and comes home everyday with a hugh smile on his face telling me the great things he did today. The parents are extremely friendly and heavily involved in the school. A real community feeling. When I take him to school, not growing up in Yonkers, I can finally say 'I feel at home, and part of a community & church' Thank you parents and teachers of CTK for that feeling

I think the quality of academic programs are average. There is music and bastketball. Art is not taken in the 7th and 8th grade. The problem with the school is dicipline. When someone does something wrong there is usually no punishment.

Good school. Wish more school's were like ctk.

Once a Catholic school, it has become far more 'secularized' during the past handful of years and now gives only lip service to Christ the King. The new monsignor is largely to blame, with his beliefs in the relativity of religion and the validity of all forms of 'marriage'--if he doesn't hold to the faith, why should any of the children in his care? Thus, this school no longer represents the Church with any authenticity, but instead focuses on a therapeutic view of life that eschews God (except as a quaint myth). If you want your children to see Jesus as a cartoon figure that they can color in alongside pictures of the Easter Bunny, this is the place to send them.

I have found this school to be heavily involved in sports.
