Hastings High School Reviews

I am a senior at Hastings High School and it has been an amazing journey through the grades 10-12. I came from a private school and found Hastings High School to offer more than my previous boarding school in terms of electives and extra-curriculars and yet, it still had the small school and plenty of extra attention that I had received in private school. Hastings High comes highly recommended from its students!

As a recent alumna (99) I can say that Hastings was a safe, nurturing, culturally aware school. The course offerings, while perhaps limited compared to other large high schools, were exemplary for a school of Hastings' size. My experience with teachers was, for the most part, an extremely positive and enriching experience. Our involvement in all extracurriculars was strongly supported, not just in athletics. Visual and performing arts are highly valued as well. I do understand that perhaps it is not the most forgiving environment for those who do not learn in a 'typical' manner. However, considering the size and nature of the school (although it's in a well off community, it's still a public school) it provides an excellent education.

I am a graduate of Hastings High School. I was disappointed with the way I was treated because I had a learning disabilities (ADD). I had to fight for rights that many of the teachers should have already known about before with other students, which made my high school career less of an experience, and more of a struggle. If you have a child that automatically does well in school, sure send them. but if you want quality care and know that your child is really getting the best education, find another school. Try private schools that will asses to your child's needs and not how many other children did well. I am still struggling now, in college, because of how much trouble i had in high school and how much the school did not help me with my learning skills.

There are plenty of clubs sports and extracurricular activities for the studets to engage in. The teachers are devoted to what they do, I once saw a teacher teaching a lesson to students at 10 o'clock at night. Now that is a devotd teacher.

I am a Hastings Highschool Alumni (class of 2000) and I feel that I had received a great education. The teachers made learning fun. In 10th grade my social studies teacher put on a Renaissance fair. It lasted the whole morning. The students acted out different plays. The students also had to dress up in Renaissance looking clothing. I found the day to be educational and fun!!
