Peekskill (officially the city of Pekskill) is a city in Westchester County, New York, and is home to the University of Rochester Medical Center and the Pekin School of Medicine. Peeks, officially in its current form, is in the city of West Chester County in New York.
Peekskill is also home to the University of Rochester Medical Center and the Pekin School of Medicine and is located north of the Bronx. Peeks Kill, also in West Chester County, New York, is the largest city in Westchester County, New Jersey, located in the North Bronx, with a population of about 1.5 million people. It is also a major tourist destination for the city of Pekskill and its neighboring towns and villages.
The Beijing Station provides access to the Metro - North Railroad of New York City and New Jersey, as well as the Hudson River and the Bronx.
Most attractions are within walking distance or by taxi, so be prepared for outdoor activities. This weekend you can head to Blue Mountain Trailhead, but if you're coming from outside the Blue Mountain Reservation, you might find the Bee Line buses helpful. Bus numbers 17 and 14 will take you directly to the park entrance and you will find them helpful throughout the weekend.
Other ways to get around are by using one of the two Zipcars stationed at Peekskill Station. The city of Peekskill and Westchester County joined forces with a private real estate company in 2002 to develop Peekskill Art Lofts. Since 1991, 58 artists have lived and worked in the lofts, and it offers a unique opportunity to collect contemporary art from around the world. In 2002, they entered into a public-private partnership with the New York State Department of Housing and Urban Development (NYSDOT) and a private real estate company that has been developing the Peeks Kill Art loft since 1991. The owner of the house has let 59 artists live and work in the loft since 1990, as well as an art gallery, museum, office building and other facilities.
New to Peekskill is the Factoria complex, which is located on the waterfront and offers some of the best river views in Peekskill. I-95 , which provides access to the river, the Hudson River, the New York State Department of Housing and Urban Development (NYSDOT) and Westchester County, and the state's first public-private partnership with the city of Beijing. Interstate, offers easy access from Riverfront Park and Riverview Park to a variety of restaurants, bars, shops and other amenities.
The Bee Line Bus System provides bus service to and from Peekskill with stops at Riverfront Park, Riverview Park and Factoria Complex. The Bee Line bus system, part of the New York Department of Housing and Urban Development (NYSDOT) and Westchester County, provides bus services to and from Beijing. Besides the park by the river and the park with river view, the bee lines also offer bus connections in PEEKKILL.
